FAQS:

~ Can I partner with co-workers or friends to make a #LovePurse donation?
Yes, you may partner with friends or co-workers to make a #LovePurse donation to split the costs and the preparation involved.

~ What supplies should be included in each purse?
There is a very specific list of supplies that must be included in each donation.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, purses must be new, with a value of $20 or less. To find examples of large purses to fit all the needed toiletries under $20.00, go to cookcountyclerk.com/Purses.

The purses should contain the following supplies:

Soap, body lotion, deodorant, feminine products, hand sanitizer, toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash (no alcohol), lip balm, nail file, shower slippers, socks, face mask, brush and comb, shampoo, face cloth, chocolates, mints, floss, note pad and pen.  (Click here for a printable supply form)

Think about how special and loved your recipient will feel as you fill your purse with all of her essential items.  Envision the excitement she will also feel opening her gift knowing that someone cared about her.

~ Do I have to include a personal note in the purse and what should the note say?
#LovePurse organizers ask that the donor include a personal note of inspiration for the woman who will be receiving it.  The notes are very important as they let each woman know how special she is, she matters, she is loved and respected, and that there is hope for the future.

The note can be as short or long as the donor would like, from a short sentiment such as “Hope this puts a smile on your face,” to a prayer or special quote.    Donors can write a lengthier encouraging message if they choose.

~ Can I provide a gently used purse?
No.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions at the shelters where they will be distributed, all purses must be newly purchased. To find examples of large purses to fit all the needed toiletries under $20.00, go to cookcountyclerk.com/Purses.

~ Where and when will the donations be collected?
Purse donations will be collected throughout October during Clerk’s Office business hours.  They can be dropped off at the Clerk’s Office for Community Affairs, 118 N. Clark Street, Room 230.

~ What shelters will be receiving the #LovePurse donations?
The #LovePurse donations will be distributed to women who are receiving services at Family Rescue on Chicago’s South Side and Sarah’s Inn, an agency that serves west suburban communities.

Family Rescue is an agency that is committed to eliminating domestic violence by providing unparalleled services to victims of domestic violence in metro Chicago to lead safer, healthier, and financially stable lives.

Sarah’s Inn, which serves women in Chicago and 22 surrounding west suburban communities, is one of the largest and most comprehensive domestic violence agencies with its hub in Forest Park and seven off-site locations through partner agencies and area courthouses.
