Voters can vote early or by mail at 53 locations

Expanded Early Voting in suburban Cook County will kick off on Monday, October 24, with more than 50 locations opening where voters can cast their ballot seven days a week leading up to Election Day November 8, including a super site voting location for commuters at Chicago’s Union Station, Cook County Clerk Karen A. Yarbrough announced today.

Suburban voters can visit any of the 53 locations to vote early, register to vote, or drop off their Mail Ballot at a secure drop box. Every registered voter in suburban Cook has already received a mailer from the Clerk’s Office that tells them where their nearest Early Voting site is, as well as the hours and location. Expanded Early Voting and Mail Voting improves access to the ballot and enables voters to choose a voting option that is most convenient for their individual needs, according to Yarbrough.

“These expanded voting initiatives provide Cook County voters with important options so that they can choose a voting plan that works best for them,” said Yarbrough. “Some people have a tradition of voting in person on Election Day, but that is often not the most convenient method for those who have to work that day. Voters have options and we want them to identify a plan and get out there and make their vote count.”

The 53 Early Voting sites are open to any suburban Cook County voter, whereas on Election Day voters must cast their ballot at their home precinct. In addition to the Union Station location in Chicago, the Clerk’s Office also has an Early Voting location at its headquarters in the central loop at 69 W. Washington.

The entire list of suburban Early Voting locations can be found here.

For voters who cannot or do not want to vote in person, they can still apply for a Vote by Mail ballot through Thursday, November 3. Mail Ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and received by the Clerk’s Office within 14 days after Election Day, November 8.

Cook County residents who would still like to register to vote can do so at any Early Voting location by providing two forms of identification, including one with their current address, and they must vote in person at the time that they register.
